After the devastating earthquake in 1999, Turkey assembled AKUT; an emergency response team trained in earthquake rescue. The AKUT is ready to send their team to Haiti at the first word from the UN. The Red Crescent, a middle eastern branch of the International Red Cross, is already on its way to Haiti to join forces with the Red Cross there. More information can be found at the following link:
